Somerset Cricket!

On Monday 10th July, 40 children in KS2 attended the Somerset match v Nottinghamshire at the County Ground, Taunton as part of “Schools Day”. Approximately 1000 children attended from our local schools and I really enjoyed seeing children of all ages become inspired in a remarkable game! During the day, we watched some amazing cricket (although Somerset saved taking all of the wickets until after we had left!)

We all had the opportunity to receive some autographs from the players, who were incredible patient with all of the children and very chatty! We even had the opportunity to meet Craig Overton – a Somerset and current England player!

During lunchtime, we took part in a parade on the field, with all of the other schools and had a big team photo! Can you spot St John’s in the photo below?! After this, we went inside to take part in a round robin of different cricket activities, including: batting, bowling pace and a catching challenge (where Jake won the challenge overall against all of the schools!)

Here are some photos of our thoroughly enjoyable day!
