Creative lesson – Big Question: Can you make a river flow?

Last week, we were tasked to answer the big question on rivers.  We had to use our discussion skills to answer two questions, this made us think about our experience of rivers.  From there,  we were tasked to build our own river using tin foil, a baking tray and sticky tape.  Some of realised that we needed to make sure it looked real and added bends (meanders), we also knew we needed a start (source) and end (mouth).  The main challenge was to make it flow, after much thought (and few trial runs) we decided that it needed to start higher and to make the river smoother the river bed needed to have no lumps or bumps, finally the water ran smoothly from source to mouth.
