Ashford Water Centre Trip

Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the local water treatment plant as part of their unit of work on water and rivers. The children were able to tour the factory where the water in the area is treated so it is clean enough to drink. They asked lots of excellent questions and everyone learned a huge amount from the trip; the adults included. We apparently visited on the day when water levels were at a record high. Although this did mean that we were not allowed in the river, it did mean that we got to see the river swamping a bridge, it crashing into the bank at the meander points and the reservoir draining over its overflow points.
